Rajya sabha basic information

- Rajya Sabha is upper house of Parliament of India.

- Total number of seats in Rajya sabha is 250. Out of which 12 rajya sabha seats are reserved for people who have made significant contribution in science, art, literature and all. The president of India choses these 12 people who will be directly elected to rajya sabha.

- The Rajya Sabha held its first sitting on 13 May 1952
