Education : Sanjay Nirupam graduated in 1986 in arts with honours in political science.
Career : He joined joined the weekly "Panch Janya" as a Sub-editor. n 1988, he received an offer from "Jan-Satta" a sister publication of Indian Express which led to his moving to Mumbai.
